The most noticeable effects of aging can been seen in the face with sagging skin and hollows. Lines around the mouth and nose, as well as wrinkles, will begin to appear as well. It is all a result of a decrease in collagen production. When collagen production decreases, the skin will begin to lose its elasticity and seem less firm. When creams fail to get results and you do not want to go through an invasive procedure, Juvederm® can give you the results you want by restoring volume and make you feel more youthful again.
What is Juvederm®?
Juvederm® is an injectable, dermal filler that contains hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the body and is beneficial in smoothing your skin’s appearance. When injected, Juvederm® will make your skin firmer as well, minimizing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Your results can last as long as nine months. You will be spared surgery while enjoying a noticeable difference in the appearance of facial lines and the loss of volume in your face. Juvederm® is absorbed by the body over time and is biocompatible meaning you are at little risk of having an allergic reaction with this type of dermal filler.
What to Expect During Treatment
When you receive a Juvederm® treatment, you will have your session at our office in Stratham and it should not last more than a half hour. As you lead up to your appointment, you should avoid anti-inflammatory medications that could cause bleeding, such as aspirin and ibuprofen. You will also want to avoid wearing makeup on the day of your treatment. Your treatment provider will apply a numbing cream to the areas that are to be treated in order to minimize any pain. Small injections will be made and then you will be able to return to your daily routine.
Recovery from Juvederm® Treatments
After your treatment, you may notice some mild swelling, but this will go down in a short amount of time. You should avoid exposure to the sun, intense cold, or heat for two weeks following your procedure and should not rub at your face. Make sure you wear sunblock to protect your skin and prolong your results. You can come back in for a follow-up session if anything was missed during your first session. However, the majority of patients are deeply satisfied with their results.
Are You a Candidate for Juvederm® Treatments?
If you are experiencing mild to moderate wrinkles and sagging, Juvederm® could work for you. You should not have Juvederm® treatments if you have a skin condition that leaves you prone to scarring. If you have a bleeding disorder or severe allergic reactions, discuss other options with our medical team. Juvederm® is a safe and effective alternative that spares you the need for surgery.
